Context

Caravan tourism in Romania is growing — and the infrastructure is catching up

Romanian camping infrastructure expanded significantly after 2018 following updated national tourism ordinances. New campsites opened in Apuseni, Danube Delta and along the Transalpina corridor. Caravan-specific facilities — wide pitches, 16A hookups, grey water disposal — are now found at most Category 1 and Category 2 registered sites.

Seasonal access varies considerably. High-altitude sites near Bucegi and Retezat operate from late May through September. Lower-altitude Dobrogea sites near Vama Veche remain open year-round.

Unverified listings and outdated directories are a common problem. This resource draws from the official Romanian tourism registry and firsthand reports filed in 2025–2026.
